  • STS Chapters meet regularly to discuss issues of concern, to maintain valued contacts with former colleagues, and to enjoy a time of fellowship through activities like speakers, tours, picnics, potluck meals, socials, parties, banquets, or tournaments. Many Chapters are active in the volunteer work of the community, such as UNICEF, Meals-on-Wheels, hospital visiting, community history and folklore.

  • STS offers a Retirement Lifestyle session and participates with the STF in Planning for Retirement seminars, as well as administering the STS Group Benefits Extended Health and Dental Plan. Our members enjoy peace of mind knowing that our benefit plan is designed to meet their needs.

  • One of the Aims of the STS is “To advocate, within the scope of influence of the STS, for the collective interests of superannuated teachers, retired teachers, members and older adults”. The STS Provincial Executive has a standing Advocacy Committee that provides leadership in organizational advocacy efforts. In addition, the STS has affiliations with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF), the Canadian Association of Retired Teachers (ACER-CART) and the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism (SSM) that allows us to connect with and serve retired members in Saskatchewan and throughout Canada.

  • STS is committed to being a well governed organization that represents its members, nurtures leadership, encourages communication and is effectively administered.

Affiliations & Partnerships

STS is allocated eight councillors on the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) Council who bring a retired teachers’ perspective  to issues being dealt with by the STF and provide input into provincial bargaining when the welfare of retired teachers is at stake.

STS has one representative on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Retired Teachers (ACER-CART).   ACER-CART is the national organization of retired teachers and promotes the interests of all retired teachers in Canada and makes submissions at the national level to the Government of Canada.

STS is a founding member of Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism (SSM) which is an “organization of organizations” that advocates for older adults in Saskatchewan as well as coordinates efforts of like-minded organizations in supporting the well-being of all Saskatchewan seniors.
